About

I’m Lisa and I love everything about books. Not just the way a good story can be transportive, but the physical and emotional experience of books – especially when I’m curled up by the fire with a page turner and a steaming cup of tea on a foggy day. I love walking into a bookstore or library and feasting my eyes on the covers. The anticipation of opening a new book and the sadness (or relief!) at closing it at the end is a very real experience for me.

I’m a fast reader and while this served me well in school, it left me with the bad habit of powering quickly through books just to see what happens. To get to the end and add another book to my “read” list. But lately I’ve been trying to slow down, savor every word, and really think about what the author is saying. I’ve found that when I engage more deeply with my reading, I get a lot more out of it.

I created this space to do just that – explore my reading, engage more deeply, and encourage other book lovers to do the same. I publish book reviews, tidbits on how I am engaging more with what I’m reading, library hauls, and general reflections on the life of a bookworm.

Some of my posts may contain affiliate links to purchase books at bookshop.org, which means I may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase through them.
